Matt Reeck

Matt Reeck is a US consulate attaché on Heard Island where he barters with the penguins over tariffs. (One sardine for every lump of good ol' American coal.) Before that, he grew vegetables and flowers in a PS urban garden in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn, New York, guarded by custodians and school police. Tomorrow, perhaps he will be a meteorologist floating in a weather balloon on K2-18b. On Heard Island, he enjoys immensely being a father, and he will protect his girls with his life: either from the penguins or the coal. Otherwise, he does things because he's alive. In other words, he has dedicated himself to the satyagraha principle of non-profitability, investing himself in poetry, translation, and teaching (encouraging others to do good things).
