Conversation over Scotch

Waterborne insects rise
to the surface,
born again
membrane of water, pierced
eternally, or eaten by
fish sensing electrical disturbance,
ensnared, flight and

chase. Honorable intent
against wet moss,
musk of earth.
Fascination understood
as longing, seeking
to know and disrobe
gendered expectations.

A lesson in cycles—
          flesh, torn

A warm body.
