Tonight I have finally broken the spines
Tonight I have finally broken the spines
of great thinking men,
stacked their words like vertebrae
up from my lap,
across the unused bed
and worn floor,
retiled the kitchen counter with them,
reupholstered the sofa and Jeep,
so I am now sleeping
walking
eating
driving
toward that singular truth,
I am told,
that will wash all this snow
from my face.
